What will I get for my registration fee?
You will receive individualized, first-rate instruction from seasoned, professional songwriters and coaches, lodging for 3 nights (air conditioned of course), all your meals catered by the incredible Irwin Catering Company, all retreat activities, a fantastic welcome package, a chance at some pretty cool door prizes, the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded creative writers, inside industry tips and advice, and the chance to commune in nature with some really cool people.
Should I submit a song with my application?
Submitting a song is completely optional, though we'd love to hear one if you care to share. We do encourage you to tell us a little about yourself and what you hope to gain from this retreat. We'd love to get to know you!
Do I need to play an instrument to attend?
Not at all. We welcome you to come and collaborate with others with instruments.
Do I have to perform in front of the group?
You don’t have to perform, but we will create a safe space for you to do so when you’re ready. Our teachers will be giving performance tips and instruction to help you gain confidence.
What ability level is your retreat designed for?
We welcome writers that are newer to the craft, as well as seasoned pros. There is something for each ability level at Cedarsong. Those who are newer to songwriting will learn the basics, including the Nashville Number System. If you are a seasoned songwriter, this retreat will give you a chance to further hone your craft, and to gain knowledge and inspiration from our award-winning teachers. Instruction in music theory can help melodies evolve from the basic chord structure many of us began with. Regardless of your experience level, we know you'll come away with new insights on how to take your writing to the next level.
May I bring my spouse or partner if they are not participating in the workshops?
Certainly, as space allows. Just reach out to us and we'll get you the details on pricing.
